What's the Difference Between a Headshot and a Profile Photo?

HEADSHOT PHOTO

Your headshot is a photograph of your head and shoulders usually with a plain background. Designed for use on your LinkedIn page, CV and website. A great headshot draws the viewer in,  will show your personality, confidence and approachability and is one of the first things that people will see. It is important that your headshot builds immediate trust and likeability. Many photographers miss these traits and it can show in vacant expressions, or images that look like the person isn't enjoying the experience or being coached.

PROFILE PHOTO

Your profile image will also include your torso. It can be mid-thigh upwards, full-length, standing or seated. Profile photographs can be taken in the studio or on location, such as your place of work or a cafe. Profile photos have a myriad of different looks, styles, poses and lighting and depends upon your requirements and how you want to use the images.

Personal branding images are a good example: A variety of profile images with smart and casual clothing and a variety of locations can give an all-around view of a person that your clients and prospects are looking for.

Editing

Editing is a key part of the process and one of our strengths! Erasing minor skin imperfections; perhaps some skin smoothing or slight slimming or teeth whitening are all possible. However, we ensure that your final profile image is as accurate and realistic as possible.

 

Delivery

For headshots we'll send you the edited image(s) within three working days of the photoshoot.

Got a question? We’d love to help. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive:

+ Where is your studio located?

Our studio is in Jumeirah Village Circle, near Circle Mall.​

​

+ Can you change the background colour?

For headshot images we offer backgrounds in white, grey or black. These work best for use on platforms such as LinkedIn.  

​

+ Are these rates applicable to all types of images?

Images are restricted to headshots (head & shoulders). Torso and full length images are part of our personal branding packages and subject to additional fees and separate booking.

​

+ Can I purchase more than one image from the photoshoot?

Yes. We take several headshot photos to ensure that we capture the very best you. If you cannot decide which one you prefer then you have the option to purchase additional images.​

​

+ Can I bring my team for these headshots?

Yes. See Headshots For My Team.

​

+ Can you take a team photograph, too?

We can accommodate a team photo including up to 6 people at one time in our studio. For larger groups we have the option to shoot at your office or alternative location for an additional fee.  Note that for a full team photo the fee varies depending upon the number of people and to accommodate the additional setup and editing time. 

​

+ Do you offer a makeup service?

Yes. Makeup can be purchased separately and is provided by our in-house Makeup Artist, Mandy, a graduate of the London College of Makeup. The makeup service takes approximately 1-hour per person so please allow for this time when booking the photoshoot. If you would like makeup including with your headshot service, you can select the option at the point of booking.
The makeup fee is an additional AED 350.00 when booked with the photoshoot (AED 450.00 standalone).

​

+ Do you provide guidance on what to wear?

Yes. You can be added to our mailing list or book with us to receive a copy of our Photoshoot Preparation Guide. This provides ideas on what to wear from clothing to accessories. As a corporate headshot, think about what you would wear as normal business attire.
If you'd like to discuss your choices with a personal stylist/shopper or a brand specialist please let us know as we have a number of partners that are specialists in these areas. 

​

+ My overseas office already has headshots done by another photographer. Can you replicate them?

This is often a requirement of our corporate clients and something that we are very happy and able to do. Please provide us with examples of what you are looking for and we can let you know what's required to replicate the look and feel.

​

+ Do you provide clothing at your studio?

No, sorry. For reasons of hygiene and to suit your personal clothing preferences and brand please ensure that you come to the session with your own outfit.

 

+ Can I bring multiple outfits?

Yes. For the headshots we recommend taking photos with different neck lines, also with and without a jacket, for example. 

​

+ What about bright clothing colours?

Go for it brightly coloured/patterned clothing if they represent who you are and your brand. We'll figure out what works with the backgrounds we have, so bring it on! 

​

+ Do you do specific editing requests?

You'd be surprised what we get asked to edit.
However, for headshots we use a 43-step editing process that provides consistent high quality photographs that represent who you are. If you want more of a high-fashion style magazine edit including facial "slimming", skin-smoothing or other extensive image manipulation, we may charge an additional fee. This will be agreed before editing work commences.

+ Can you take images at our office location?

Yes. We offer a full mobile service and quote separately for this. For a location shoot at your office, please contact us on 054 453 1222 (or click the link for WhatsApp).
